Dear Parents,

SCHOOL TRIP TO CERN, 11th-14th DECEMBER 2008

In three weeks we will be leaving for CERN and I would like to remind you of some of the details mentioned in previous letters and also to inform you of the final arrangements.
Before our departure (specifically, on Friday 28th November and Friday 5th December), Mr. Nikoloudakis will organise two lunchtime presentations concerning particle physics and CERN’s mission. Our hope is that our pupils will thus be better informed and more able to obtain maximum benefit and enjoyment from this trip.
On Thursday 11th December (our departure date), your child must come to school with its luggage at 8:40am. The luggage should be left with the Headmaster’s secretary and your child must then immediately bring their passport to me. After this your child will attend normal school lessons up to and including period 6. At 13:10 your child should pick up its luggage and the entire group will be taken by school bus to Eleftherios Venizelos, in time for our 15:45 departure (Swiss Airlines, flight LX1823). Once we arrive in Geneva we will be transferred to our hotel (Hotel Cornavin, tel: +41 227 161 212, web: www.fhotels.ch), where we will have dinner.
The next day will be entirely taken up by our double site tour of CERN and Saturday will be spent on a guided tour of Geneva and Lausanne, including visits to both city centres, the old city, Notre Dame Cathedral, Palais de Rumine, Chateau St. Maire and possibly the Natural History Museum.
On Sunday 14th December we fly back to Athens (flight LX1822) and expect to be at Eleftherios Venizelos at 15:05. Please ensure that you are at the airport to pick up your child at this time.
With regard to pocket money, let me once again remind you that most expenses have been covered by what you have already paid. Barring two lunch-time snacks, sundry drinks and one or two sights we may visit on Saturday which will have entrance fees, there should be no further costs. €100 should be ample for what I can foresee.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or Mr. Nikoloudakis. We hope and trust that this will be an educational trip that your child will remember for the rest of its life.

Yours faithfully,

E. Kladidis, Director of Studies
